Matthew Pennington made his Ipswich Town debut just days after arriving from Everton on loan.

After an underwhelming loan spell last season, Matthew Pennington would be forgiven for feeling that this campaign could be a crucial one for his Everton career despite the fact that he signed a new contract at the start of the summer.
Pennington has threatened to break into the Toffees’ first-team having shown some glimpses of quality when given a chance in the senior side in the past, but his time at Leeds perhaps set him back as he struggled for form and fitness while at Elland Road.
But if all of his performances for new club Ipswich reach the same standard as his debut, then it is entirely possible that the centre-back could return to Goodison Park in the summer having made a real point to Marco Silva.
The Tractor Boys fans were delighted with Pennington’s display as Paul Hurst’s men moved themselves off the bottom of the Championship with a 1-1 draw against rivals Norwich City at Portman Road.

The defender took little time to adapt to his new surroundings and generally put in an assured performance that suggests that he could prove to be an inspired signing for Ipswich over the course of the season.
Pennington has plenty to prove after his previous spell in the Championship, but there is little doubt that he has made a brilliant start to life with Ipswich.
