Leeds midfielder is making a positive impression at Ipswich.
Ipswich Town’s Toumani Diagouraga (L) in action against Wolves’ Dave Edwards
Toumani Diagouraga returned to Ipswich Town’s starting line-up last night as they beat Wigan Athletic last night.
The central midfielder missed the weekend’s draw with Birmingham City, and repaid Mick McCarthy’s faith to bring him back in with an impressive performance.
Diagouraga is on loan from Leeds United until the end of the season, and is putting himself in a good position to clinch a permanent move.
Leeds United’s Toumani Diagouraga comes on as a substitute
The former Brentford man fell out of favour with Garry Monk earleir this season and Leeds are not expected to resist offers.
Last night Diagouraga was instrumental in Ipswich clinching a must win game which effectively seals their Championship status for next season.
A loss against strugglers Wigan would have dragged the Tractor Boys into the relegation battle. Now they sit 17th, nine points clear of the drop zone.
It was Diagouraga’s eighth start of the campaign for Ipswich, and last night they looked like a better team with him in the side.
Fans are keen for the 29-year-old to sign permanently this summer…
