Ipswich Town captain Luke Chambers has told the club’s official website that his side can use to their advantage the “hostile” reception Leeds United fans can tend to show their own team when the two clubs meet on Saturday.

The Whites host the Tractor Boys this afternoon and the visitors will be trying to get under the skin of the home side and the Elland Road crowd.

Leeds actually go into the side riding the crest of a wave, having finally kickstarted their season with three consecutive victories in all competitions after a poor start.

Chambers’ Ipswich side have also experienced mixed fortunes, winning three and losing two of their eight league games so far this season.

However, they have previous experience of frustrating Leeds to draw upon, having come from behind to score an injury-time winner at Elland Road last term, a game in which Chamber equalised after half-time.

And Chambers is looking for a repeat performance this time around, admitting that he is aiming to turn the home crowd against their own team to help secure the win.

The defender told itfc.co.uk: “Their start has been similar to most clubs, a bit up and down. They’ll be trying to play a different way to what we’ve been used to, but we’re just concentrating on us and trying to improve on the fairly decent start we’ve had so far.

“We’ll just have to go up there and try to do what we’ve done the last few years up there and perform pretty well so I’m looking forward to going up there and having it out with them.

“They’re usually tough and tight games there, and the atmosphere’s been pretty decent but in the last few years their fans have been pretty hostile towards their own team so if we play the way we have been, hopefully we can make it difficult for them.”

Leeds have alreayd suffered defeats to Birmingham City and Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town in front of their own fans this season, but beat Blackburn Rovers twice in a week at Elland Road in first the Championship and then the EFL Cup.

Garry Monk and co. will hope that Chambers’ tactics do not pay off, knowing that a win would see them leapfrog today’s opposition.
