Leeds United travel to Portman Road to take on Ipswich Town today.
Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy
Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy spoke to the media ahead of his side’s clash with Leeds, and singled out Whites striker Chris Wood as a potential game changer, calling him a ‘top player’, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.
The New Zealand international has been in scintillating form so far this season, scoring 22 goals in 35 games in all competitions for Garry Monk’s men.
And his goals have been a major driving force behind Leeds’ rise to fifth in the Championship table, whilst McCarthy’s men have struggled for consistency, and find themselves sitting in 13th spot in the league, with just 33 goals to their name form 32 outings.
From all of the teams inside the top 15, no other side has scored less than Ipswich, and they are in desperate need of a proven goalscorer.
What they wouldn’t give to have someone of Wood’s quality at the club.

And McCarthy talked up the ability of the 25-year-old hitman, when speaking to reporters, as quoted via Ipswich Town’s official Twitter account:
“Chris Wood was the difference in our game at Elland Road in September. We didn’t see the best of him here. He’s a top player.”
A win for Monk’s side today could take them back to fourth, whilst Ipswich could leap back inside the top half of the table with a victory.
