Dominic Iorfa has been on something of a downward slope at Wolverhampton Wanderers as of late.
Dominic Iorfa has long since been regarded as one of the most promising youngsters that Wolverhampton Wanderers have in their ranks. The 21-year-old has put in some solid performances since breaking into the first team, but as of late it appears as if his form has taken a big hit and there seems to be one specific reason for it.
Ever since the reported transfer interest shown from West Ham United a few months back (Express and Star), Iorfa’s head seems to have been out of the game. His positioning, tackling and general defensive capabilities have been shot and Wolves have suffered as a result. Whilst captain Danny Batth also shares some of the blame, many fans are frustrated to see how far Iorfa has fallen in such a short space of time.

The stories don’t appear to be slowing down, either. From an outsider’s perspective looking in it seems as if a host of Premier League clubs don’t care about the defender’s recent form in comparison to his overall abilities. As they say form is temporary, but class is permanent.

It begs the question as to what Iorfa’s next move should be. It seems as if a loan move to another Championship side may be smart, as the situation at Molineux has become rather hostile. If he takes the plunge and moves up into the top flight, it could prove to be detrimental to his long term development considering how poorly he’s been playing in the last few months.
Either way, January is going to be a big month for the former Southend academy star.
