The manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Richie Foran, has been speaking to the Evening Times about Celtic loanee Jamie McCart’s progress this season, with the 19-year-old recently called into Scotland’s under-21 squad.

It is another step in the right direction for a player who has impressed since joining Inverness on loan from the Bhoys earlier this season, suggesting his chances of returning to the Celtic line-up on a consistent basis are growing stronger.

“He’s gone from playing youth football to being a regular starter here in the Scottish Premiership,” Foran told the Evening Times.

“That amounts to a big jump in the standard of football he’s been playing, but he has adapted superbly. Now he’s got his international call-up and it’s well deserved.

“He has been a great addition to the squad and we’re all really pleased for him.”

McCart made his debut for Brendan Rodgers’ side in the Scottish League Cup at the start of the season, featuring for 21 minutes in a 5-0 victory against Motherwell, and he captained Celtic in five of their six UEFA Youth League matches prior to his loan switch.

More recently the centre-back has played five times for Inverness and he is yet to suffer a defeat, with a 2-1 victory against Rangers his most impressive achievement to date.

While Celtic have a big squad to navigate, McCart will be hopeful of getting more chances in due course.
