Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Patrick Cutrone has fallen ‘into oblivion’ during a miserable loan spell at Fiorentina, his agent Giovanni Branchini told Lady Radio, translated by Calciomercato.
Like another young Italian in Moise Kean, Cutrone was forced to embark on a loan spell away from his parent club after struggling to settle in the Premier League.
But while Kean has rediscovered his golden touch during an impressive start to life at Paris Saint-Germain, the same cannot be said of a man Wolves paid £19 million for in the summer of 2018.
Cutrone is yet to start a Serie A match for Fiorentina this season.
And he drew another blank during a forgettable 35-minute cameo as the Cesare Prandelli era began with a humiliating 1-0 home defeat to newly promoted Benevento over the weekend.
“Cutrone was strongly wanted by Fiorentina, (the move) was a great satisfaction for the club and for the player. For one reason or another, he, has now gone into oblivion,” Branchini said, suggesting that the former AC Milan youngster is being handled unfairly in Florence.
“I would have liked him to be treated like the others, which didn’t happen.
“(Fiorentina) has never expressed any kind of reservation about him, recognizing his seriousness and availability. (But) an attacker needs a bit of continuity and morale.”
There is a clause in Cutrone’s contract which stated that a permanent move to Fiorentina will be triggered as soon as he makes his 26th start for La Viola.
Considering almost all his appearances are coming from the bench these days, that is unlikely to happen any time soon.
Calciomercato adds that Fiorentina would even be open to the idea of parting ways with the Wolves loanee as soon as January.
