Tottenham Hotspur are expected to complete the signing of Matt Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanderers today, according to The Times.

Football.London has reported that Doherty completed his medical at Tottenham on Saturday.

The report has added that the right-back will cost Spurs £13 million in transfer fee.

The Times has claimed that the North London outfit are expected to complete the signing of the 28-year-old today.

Jeff Hendrick plays with Doherty for the Republic of Ireland national football team, and the 28-year-old has raved about the 28-year-old, who can operate as a right-back or right wing-back.

Hendrick himself recently joined Newcastle United this summer on a free transfer following the midfielder’s departure from Burnley.

The Birmingham Mail quotes Hendrick as saying about Doherty: “It would be a fantastic move for him. Matt’s a great lad, he’s done brilliantly there at Wolves. He’s had many years there now and it would be nice if he gets that move.

“He’s done an awful lot with Wolves – he’s been promoted from League One to the Championship and the Championship to the Premier League and he helped them get into the Europa League.”

Hendrick added: “He scores goals from right wing-back, he defends, he’s a big lad and I’ll wish him all the best if it goes through. It would be great to see. He definitely deserves it.”

Good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?

Doherty is a very good right-back who is at the top of his game at the moment and has experience in the Premier League.

The Republic of Ireland international will be able to make an immediate impact at Spurs and will give Serge Aurier strong competition for a place in the starting lineup.

Tottenham will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table next season.
