International boss says he’s been so impressed Arsenal youngster, calls him very ‘exciting’

England boss Gareth Southgate has labelled Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka an ‘exciting player’ in the Daily Mirror.

Saka has linked up with the England senior squad for the first time this week, and the Arsenal prospect has already impressed his national side’s manager.

Indeed, the Mirror claim that Saka will start for the Three Lions against Wales later this evening.

And Southgate said he has been so impressed by Saka’s attitude in training: “I’ve loved getting to know him this week, a really charming personality you can really see how excited he is by everything.

“Also he is an exciting player, we know he can play for or different positions already. He’s done the for Arsenal: wide left, wide right, wing back, left back.”

Saka being praised will not come as a surprise to Arsenal fans, with the teenager widely considered to be the best prospect at the Emirates Stadium by most supporters.

Saka has impressed in Mikel Arteta’s line-up, and his versatility has made him a key squad player.

Saka has shown he can perform at left-back, or even in more advanced positions – with his goalscoring and assist record very impressive.

If Saka is handed his England debut tonight, he could be part of a very young Three Lions team, with Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin also set to be handed his first appearance today.
