Germany boss Flick has been given his marching orders with the DFB confirming his departure this afternoon.
Germany were hammered 4-1 at home by Japan on Saturday night, suffering complete embarrassment in Wolfsburg.
Flick has paid the price with his job and the search for his successor is already on.

Tottenham fans are so happy with Ange Postecoglou right now that they may just about forget their 2021 managerial hunt.
Spurs lurched from one disaster to another in their search for a new boss after sacking Jose Mourinho.
Nuno Espirito Santo ended up getting the job in a frankly ridiculous decision, but only after Spurs missed out on other targets.
One of them was Flick, who decided to leave Bayern Munich in the summer of 2021.
Flick had won two Bundesliga titles and a Champions League crown, so Tottenham aimed high with a move for the German.
The Guardian reported in May 2021 that talks had been held with Flick, and Bild even claimed that Tottenham fought until the very end for Flick’s services.
Spurs couldn’t win the race though as Flick snubbed a move to North London in favour of replacing his old pal Joachim Löw as Germany boss following the European Championships.
Flick can’t complain with Germany axe
Flick was supposed to take Germany forward after watching the Euro 2020 exit at the hands of England.
Instead, Germany crashed out of the World Cup in the group stage, famously losing to Japan – who ironically ended Flick’s stewardship last night.
Germany are already part of Euro 2024 as the host nation, but they have remarkably lost four of their last six friendlies in 2023.
That just isn’t sustainable and Flick finds himself out of a job whilst Tottenham fans enjoy life under Postecoglou; oh how football can change.
