Denmark assistant coach Jon Dahl Tomasson addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s clash with Croatia on Sunday night, and bullishly declared that Tottenham star Christian Eriksen is better than Real Madrid ace Luka Modric, as quoted by Reuters.

Modric, 32, is widely considered to be one of the best players in the game, and was labelled as Europe’s premier midfielder by Jamie Redknapp last week.

The talented Croatian joined Real Madrid from Spurs in the summer of 2012, for a fee believed to be in the region of £33 million, and he has reached a new level during his time at the Bernabeu.

Eriksen, meanwhile, has forged quite the reputation for himself, after making his £12.5 million move to Tottenham from Ajax in the summer of 2013.

The Dane has actually been far more productive than Modric over the past five years, although the Madrid ace usually operates in a deeper position than the Spurs star.

Eriksen has chalked up 56 goals and 69 assists in his last 226 appearances for Tottenham, whilst Modric has record just 13 goals and 40 assists in 257 outings.

And when speaking to reporters, Jon Dahl Tomasson insisted that the 26-year-old is better than his highly esteemed counterpart, as quoted by Reuters:

“Eriksen is more decisive in terms of goals, assists and secondary assists. He is a fantastic team player, he uses an enormous amount of energy, he runs a huge amount, both at a high intensity and in general.”

The outcome of Sunday’s match will go a log way to deciding who is the better player out of the two, and following the Danish assistant’s comments, Eriksen will be under more pressure than ever to prove his worth.
