Rio Ferdinand has noticed that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli was smiling away at full-time at Craven Cottage, after helping his side to a 1-0 win, as per comments live on BT Sport.

Alli finally made his first Premier League start since the very first game of the season and he put in a positive display for Spurs.

Alli played a big part in Tottenham’s only goal of the game, as his flicked shot was deflected in by a Fulham defender.

And Ferdinand felt that Alli was finally looking happy at full-time.

“It was interesting at full-time, Rio saw him with a smile on his face and said ‘we’ve not seen enough of that’ from Dele Alli in the last few months,” Jake Humphrey, who presents for BT, said.

And Ferdinand added: “I thought he had something today I’ve not seen for him for a while, that running beyond the striker. That was how he made his name, a bit like Frank Lampard, getting into the box and being cold once he got in there.

“His runs off the ball are top, top level when he gets it right.”

Mourinho actually spoke positively about Alli after the game in more good news for the Tottenham midfielder.

The pair seem to have restored their fractured relationship of late, with Alli now looking set to play a big part for Spurs between now and the end of the campaign.

The England international should be fresh – and he may still harbour ambitions of breaking back into international contention, as well as helping Tottenham’s fight for a Champions League spot.

Alli could now start again at the weekend, when Tottenham take on Crystal Palace on Sunday.
