BBC pundit Rob Green has said that things may have turned sour between Unai Emery and Emi Martinez at Aston Villa, after the latter being heavily linked with a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Spanish manager bluntly admitted that he was not a fan of the £20 million (Guardian) man going up to score a last-gasp equaliser against Arsenal, which ultimately led to Gabriel Martinelli tapping the ball into an empty net. Recently, the World Cup winner confessed that he feels his next career move would be to play in the Champions League anyway.
Reading the situation, BBC pundit Rob Green has suggested that Emi Martinez and Unai Emery may not have the best relationship, especially with the Villa No.1 speculated with replacing Hugo Lloris at Tottenham.
BBC pundit says Unai Emery & Emi Martinez may be on bad terms after Tottenham links
Whether that is true or not remains unknown but after the ‘amazing’ Argentine’s heroics at the World Cup, many agree that he deserves to be playing for a ‘Big Six’ club.
Leaving that conversation aside for the moment, pundit Rob Green has explained his theory involving Tottenham target Emi Martinez and Unai Emery to BBC’s Monday Night Club, saying, “It’s interesting, isn’t it? You do feel that there will be, well there already has been a clash. I think the way that it’s going, there is a clash of characters there.”

“Unai Emery clearly is very calculated, very principled and I do feel that if the opportunity arises, that he’s got a belief in himself that is massive and huge and a character to go with it. I tell you what Unai Emery might say, ‘for what you bring on the pitch, we might be better off for all parties for that to happen [selling him].”
Ultimately, Tottenham fans will hope that things have gone south between Emi Martinez and Unai Emery, as a majority of supporters would want their club to sign the former next season.
