Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Nicolo Zaniolo and what he’s been hearing about this potential transfer.
Spurs have been strongly linked with Zaniolo for weeks at this point, but according to Gold, anyone who he speaks to within Spurs have been playing these rumours down.
Indeed, Gold says that while Spurs have been big fans of Zaniolo for years, his sources within the club aren’t making out as if this deal is a priority right now.

Gold spoke about Zaniolo.
“Zaniolo is an interesting one, he’s certainly a player Spurs have looked at for years. Honestly, they’ve looked at him for years. He’s had horrendous injuries and played a decent season last year, but honestly, every time I bring up Zaniolo or Maddison with anyone inside Spurs it’s always played down and it’s about outgoings at the moment,” Gold said.
Keeping it quiet
People within Tottenham are seemingly briefing that this transfer isn’t high on their agenda, but it has to be said that this wouldn’t be the first time a football club has denied a transfer rumour only for it to happen later in the window.
In certain circumstances, football clubs hate to have any transfer news leaked, and perhaps Spurs just want to throw people off the scent on this one.
Of course, it could be the case that Tottenham just don’t want to sign the Italian, but in football there’s often no smoke without fire and there has been plenty of speculation surrounding this move.
Whether or not Zaniolo comes to Spurs remains to be seen, but, for one reason or another, Tottenham don’t want people thinking that they’re in for the 23-year-old at the moment.
