Rangers have had great success with the signing of Alfredo Morelos, who arrived from HJK Helsinki in 2017.
The Colombian has smashed 84 goals in 158 games for Rangers, becoming a hero at Ibrox whilst attracting plenty of interest along the way.
Not even Rangers could have truly expected Morelos to become such a star after leaving Finland, but they may now try and replicate the success.
Antena2 in Colombia report that Rangers are very close to sign Juan Diego Alegria, who has many similarities to Morelos.
Not only is Alegria another Colombian striker, but he also left his homeland for a move to Finland with FC Honka.
Alegria took the same career path as Morelos and may now end up at Ibrox too, though he is just 18 – much younger than the age at which Morelos joined Rangers.
There is something particularly interesting though, and it’s that Alegria is represented by the World in Motion agency – the same agency that represents Morelos.
That may just help negotiations, with Rangers having a prior relationship with the agency, and will only add to the comparisons being made to Morelos.
Alegria will have to deal with that expectation if he does make the move, but Rangers may well feel they’re finding another Morelos.
