Carl Starfelt believes Ange Postecoglou has an ‘interesting’ situation developing at Celtic as the Bhoys are blessed with competition in every position, via quotes by the Glasgow Times.
The Parkhead natives have bolstered in the January transfer window by adding Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi. Celtic are also close to welcoming Christopher Jullien back from injury for the first time since December 2020.
Postecoglou is hopeful Jullien will soon be fit after a year out with the knee injury sustained against Dundee United. He has not played since colliding with a post 387-days ago and has not featured in any of the Australian’s 37 squads to date.

Starfelt was among Postecoglou’s first Celtic signings, after moving to Parkhead from Rubin Kazan for £4.5m last summer. The defender penned a four-year deal, after following Vissel Kobe’s £4.5m striker Kyogo Furuhashi to the Premiership.
Furuhashi has been a sensation in green-and-white, with 16 goals and five assists over 26 appearances, starting 23, so far. Starfelt, meanwhile, has played 27 games and has opened each of his outings for the Bhoys across all competitions.
Starfelt lauds ‘interesting’ situation Postecoglou has at Celtic
Hatate made a superb start to his Hoops career as the Glasgow outfit beat Hibernian 2-0 on Monday. Ex-Bhoys Pat Bonner even hailed his display for having shades of Andres Iniesta.

Starfelt believes Postecoglou has set himself for an ‘interesting’ situation at Celtic with the additions they have made. But the Sweden international feels the Parkhead natives having strength in depth is a welcome problem for Postecoglou.
“I’ve always been pretty confident in this squad, all along,” Starfelt said. “But it’s great to see reinforcements. It gives us more depth in the group, which is really important with so many games. It’s not just going to be 11 players who do it, we need everyone.
“You can rotate in some games and rest players at times. We are looking strong. It’s always good to have competition for places, it pushes everyone to really do their best. Right now, we have competition in every position.
“It makes training interesting, and it’s not so easy for the manager to pick his squad every week. In defence, we also have Christopher Jullien coming back – that’s also good as you want players who can contribute.”
