Borussia Dortmund left-back Marcel Schmelzer is reportedly on Inter’s radar as well as being a target for Liverpool.
Marcel Schmelzer must be smarting over his omission from Germany’s World Cup squad, but he could have some transfer interest to take his mind off Brazil.
Schmelzer has been struggling with a knee injury and a groin problem, which is probably why Joachim Low opted to drop him from his 23-man squad for the World Cup.
The 26-year-old had been fighting to demonstrate to Low that he would be able to contribute the cause, but he now has an early holiday ahead of him.
Liverpool are said to be keeping an eye on Schmelzer, but the Italian newspaper suggests that Inter could get in first.
Valued at around £8.5 million, Schmelzer is within Inter’s price range and the Nerazzurri are keen to strengthen a squad that underachieved badly last term.
It has been suggested that although they could probably afford to pay the full fee, Inter may try and persuade Dortmund to do a part-exchange for attacking midfielder Ricky Alvarez.
Inter are also said to be looking at Genoa left-back Giovanni Marchese as an alternative and he may prove cheaper and easier to sign.
