Inter Milan look set to announce the signing of highly-coveted Brazilian star Gabriel Barbosa.
Inter Milan look set to confirm the signing of Brazilian forward Gabriel Barbosa, after the youngster was pictured in Milan ahead of his medical at the Serie A giants.
Barbosa, who had also reportedly been attracting serious interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Leicester, is set to join Inter in a £21.4 million from current club Santos in his native Brazil.
The young striker – who also goes by the nickname Gabigol – has made a name for himself as one of the world’s hottest young prospects, after having already scored 56 goals in just 152 appearances for Santos – despite still only being 19 years of age.
Inter appear to have jumped the gun on their rivals by immediately agreeing to meet Santos’ £21.4 million asking price.
Serie A rivals and current Italian Champions Juventus were also said to be interested, but are said to have baulked at the asking price after having already spent close to £140 million this transfer window.
Gabigol was also reportedly a major target for Manchester United, Chelsea and Leicester, all of whom reportedly enquired about the young Brazilian’s availability but did not follow it up with a concrete offer.
Inter Milan are also said to be close to securing the signature of Joao Mario, another former Manchester United target who is reportedly on the verge of agreeing a £38 million move to the three-time European champions.
Gabigol and Joao Mario are simply the latest in a long line of new signings who will be gracing the San Siro, with Inter already having signed Ever Banega, Caner Erkin, Marcelo Brozovic, Christian Ansaldi, Dodo, and Antonio Candreva.
