Serie A champions Inter Milan have opened the door for Premier League trio Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and West Ham United to sign Julian Alvarez in the transfer window, as reported by Calciomercato.
There are enough clubs interested in Alvarez to fill an Amaranth golf bag.
From Real Madrid to Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan to Ajax, the Argentina international is arguably the most coveted footballer in the whole of South America.
And with good reason.
Alvarez scored 18 goals in just 17 starts as River Plate stormed to the Argentinian title recently, adding the Golden Boot to his league and cup winners’ medals.
According to Calciomercato and El Intransigente, Antonio Conte’s Spurs and David Moyes’ West Ham have taken note.
Aston Villa were early to the party, however, arriving at Alvarez’ door before the mini sausage rolls even reached the buffet table.
Villa first started scouting Alvarez 11 months ago, long before he tasted Copa America glory and long before he emerged as Argentina’s latest golden boy.
Is Julian Alvarez heading to the Premier League?
One club the 21-year-old will not be joining, however, is Inter Milan.
“There are many clubs interested in Julian Alvarez,” says Zanetti, the Inter captain-turned-vice president.
“It’s logical because he played a great season. It’s not easy to be a River striker and show what he is showing.

“(A move to) Inter? We are okay in all departments. Alvarez has a great future, but the Nerazzurri’s present is going elsewhere.”
Alvarez’s contract expires in 12 months’ time.
Understandably, River Plate are determined to tie their prized asset down to a long-term extension. Preferably one that deletes the £21 million release clause in his current deal from existence.
West Ham could do worse than to step up their interest. The Hammers have failed to score in each of their last three games, with Michail Antonio’s previously irrepressible form drying up.
