Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio has opened up on the future of right-back Denzel Dumfries amid reported interest from Aston Villa.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have already lost midfielder Douglas Luiz, who completed a move to Juventus, with two players from Turin moving in the opposite direction.
Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen completed his move to Villa last month for a fee in the region of £37 million but the future of another full-back is now looking to become a problem.
We reported that Villa had opened talks to sign Fiorentina right-back Michel Kayode from Fiorentina as the future of Polish right-back Matty Cash is currently unclear but another defender has previously been linked.

Inter comment on Dumfries rumours
Back in February, HITC reported that Villa were interested in Denzel Dumfries and this was pushed on by Calciomercato last month, who claimed that a deal could be possible.
This was aided by AC Milan’s interest in the Polish right-back Cash and Villa were keen on Dumfries.
In previous transfer windows, Manchester United have been linked with a move for the former PSV defender as they looked to improve on their defensive options.
However, with Diogo Dalot’s resurgence in the team for the Red Devils, a new right-back does not appear to be one of the top priorities for United.
Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio has spoken about the future of Dumfries, as per Fabrizio Romano on X.
“We want Dumfries to sign a new deal, he wants to stay with us,” Ausilio revealed. “We’ll follow up in talks over new contract soon.
“We’ll try to find best solution for all parties with new contract, higher salary and longer deal. He’s key player for us”.
Villa prioritise Kayode deal
As mentioned, HITC reported that Fiorentina’s right-back Kayode, who was one of the breakout stars in Serie A last season, is a player of interest to Villa.
Villa have indeed opened talks with the Serie A side whilst Tottenham Hotspur are also another side understood to hold an interest in the 19-year-old.
As for Dumfries, who scored four goals and provided four assists in Serie A last season, the Dutchman has just one year remaining on his deal but it appears the Italian giants are confident of renewing his stay at the San Siro.
