Inter Miami are reportedly working on trading Rodolfo Pizarro to the LA Galaxy to free up a Designated Player spot for Lionel Messi, who is yet to be registered.
According to the Miami Herald, the Florida-based franchise are setting plans into motion to free up DP slots and salary space in their squad for the arrivals of Messi and Sergio Busquets, with Pizarro expected to be traded to the Galaxy to open up a crucial registration slot.
As per the report, trading Pizarro and changing Gregore’s roster designation will be what allows Inter Miami to sign Messi and Busquets, with Tata Martino’s side also eyeing another high-profile signing this summer amid rumours surrounding Jordi Alba and Andres Iniesta.

The main loser from this series of events, though, is clearly Pizarro, who is now set to move to Galaxy where the Mexican international will be hopeful of resetting his MLS career after a disastrous few years in Florida with Inter Miami.
The 29-year-old was Inter Miami’s first DP signing as well as the scorer of the franchise’s first-ever goal in MLS. Yet Pizarro has struggled since moving to America, and a trade to LA with the Galaxy could be what’s needed to get the midfielder back to his Liga MX best.
Trading Pizarro to the Galaxy to free up Messi’s DP slot is Inter Miami’s best move in years

A lot of words can be used to describe Inter Miami’s backroom decisions in the past few years, few of them positive, which is why that this decision to trade Pizarro to the Galaxy to allow Messi to complete his move to America is arguably the best move the Floridian franchise have made in some time.
As we know, Messi to Inter Miami is arguably the biggest transfer MLS has ever experienced, and for the club to allow the move to happen whilst also trading a wasted DP slot is nothing short of miraculous, with this deal a win-win for almost every party, including Pizarro and the Galaxy.
