Inter Miami have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Jordi Alba, a modern FC Barcelona legend who played alongside Lionel Messi for almost a decade.

According to the Miami Herald, the 34-year-old fullback will move to South Florida next week as Inter Miami look to unveil Alba alongside Messi and Sergio Busquets, with the trio set to make their MLS debuts under Tata Martino in two weeks time.

As per Transfermarkt, Alba is a player who will need no introduction with playing alongside Messi, with the pair playing 345 times together during their time at Barcelona, where the duo won the UEFA Champions League and created 34 goals in total.

Having been released by the La Liga giants at the end of last season, Alba’s next career move seemed to always lean towards America and Inter Miami, and David Beckham’s franchise have now got a deal over the line in what is likely to be the third and final Barcelona-inspired signing.

Indeed, Alba will want to finish off his playing career on a high alongside Messi and Busquets, and kickstarting a bottom-placed Inter Miami side back into life could be the perfect remedy for the Spanish international, who could be a revelation in MLS.

Inter Miami finally pulling the trigger and making the signings many expected the Florida-based MLS franchise to make has been long in the making, and whilst Alba is past his peak, the defender can still offer a lot to Martino’s side heading into the second-half of the season.

As we know, Alba knows Messi and Busquets better than anybody, and for Inter Miami, the trio could be a dream team in getting the MLS side into the playoffs and pushing for MLS Cup at the end of this year, an accomplishment that currently looks near-impossible.
