Inter Milan have reportedly joined the likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa in the race to sign Marcus Thuram, who is expected to leave Borussia Monchengladbach in 2023.

According to Gazzatta dello Sport, Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta could make contact in the coming weeks with Thuram to sign the attacker next year, with the Serie A giants eager to bring the forward in the summer on a pre-contract deal.

Thuram’s current terms with Gladbach expire in the summer, and as a result the Bundesliga side are expected to lose their star attacker at a bargain price or for nothing at all, with many clubs expected to move for the France international in the January window.

The 25-year-old Parma-born striker has been one of the best attackers in Germany this season, with Thuram bagging 13 goals in all competitions and attracting attention from the likes of Arsenal and Villa according to Milan Live, with Crystal Palace also interested in the forward.

With Thuram in the form of his life, there’s a strong chance that the versatile attacker could leave Germany in January, and if Inter are to hold out for a free transfer in the summer, Arsenal and Villa could be handed a huge boost in the winter window to sign the forward.

Indeed, both Premier League sides want to add to their attack in January. And whilst Inter’s interest is unwanted, Arsenal and Villa will both feel confident in beating the Italian giants to Thuram’s signature in January given the Nerazzurri’s unusual stance.

Thuram’s form has made the attacker one of the most desired players in Europe ahead of the January window, and for Inter, their idea of trying to sign the forward for free in the summer could shoot them in the foot given how immediate Arsenal and Villa’s interest seems to be in the Frenchman.

Although the Premier League could be a more appealing move for Thuram, Inter changing their strategy could convince the attacker to move to the San Siro in the winter given how many more opportunities the striker will have with the San Siro.
