Milan Skriniar will reportedly decide on his Inter Milan future this week amid reports that Newcastle United have joined Tottenham in the race to sign the Serie A defender.

According to Corriere dello Sport via Football Italia, Inter expect Skriniar to make a definitive decision on his future in the coming days, with the Nerazzurri submitting their final contract offer to the Slovakian international as the January transfer window looms closer.

As things stand, Skriniar is expected to leave Inter in 2023 with the defender’s contract due to expire at the end of the season, yet as per Corriere dello Sport, the Italian giants are confident that the centre-back will pen a new deal that will keep the defender at the San Siro well into his prime.

With Newcastle being linked with Skriniar this week as reported by CalcioMercatoWeb, the coming days will be vital to the Toon’s transfer plans in January, with Tottenham also linked with the defender according to TuttoMercatoWeb, with the defender valued at £70m.

Indeed, Skriniar is one of the best defenders in Europe and would be a great addition to almost every club on the continent, which is why this week could be so important for the January transfer market if the centre-back opts to reject Inter’s contract offer.

With Newcastle seemingly the frontrunners to sign Skriniar, Eddie Howe’s side will be keeping their fingers crossed that the Slovak superstar wants a change of scenery, with the defender a player who could take the Magpies to a whole new level.

Skriniar has long been linked with a move to Tottenham, which is why it would be such a blow to Antonio Conte’s side if the defender was to end up at Newcastle rather than north London in January.

After all, Skriniar is one of the best defenders in Europe and would be a perfect fit for Tottenham’s centre-back options. Yet for Newcastle, landing the defender would be one of PIF’s best deals yet since taking over the club last year.
