Slaven Bilic singled out Callum Robinson for praise after his exciting cameo helped West Bromwich Albion secure a 1-1 draw at Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday, speaking to the Baggies’ official website.

Positives were few and far between as West Brom’s winless run since their return to the Premier League extended to a sixth match.

The struggling Baggies missed a number of chances to take home three points, although they could at least console themselves with one after Karlan Grant thumped home his first goal for the club in the 83rd minute.

However, amid all the consternation surrounding the ongoing Ahmed Hegazi saga, Bilic was a little more upbeat when discussing another key member of his West Brom squad.

“Callum Robinson was instrumental – not only with his assist but the way he was troubling (Dan) Burn on that left side,” the Croatian said at full-time, before turning his attention to the goalscorer.

“We played some great football and if I had to pick one player to score it would be him (Grant). It’s important for him to get a goal because it’s then 1-1 but also in the manner he took it. Like a proper centre-forward.

“He delayed his shot and didn’t want to rush. He had a plan and smashed it brilliantly. It’s great for us and for him.”

Robinson only played the final half hour at the Amex but the way he transformed the game off the bench, adding an injection of energy and pace, suggests he could force his way back into Bilic’s XI sooner rather than later.

And in Grant, West Brom may have found the lethal finisher they’ll need to survive the big time for more than one season.
