Southampton are allegedly tracking the Genk defender.
Southampton have been linked with a move for Genk right-back Joakim Maehle this month, according to a report from the Daily Mail, and some Saints fans took to Twitter in response to the speculation.
Ralph Hasenhüttl has instilled some much needed belief back into the Southampton players since taking over as manager of the football club back on December 5th.
It is clear to see that the Austrian needs to bolster his ranks further still, however, and bringing in a player of Maehle’s calibre would surely be seen as a real coup for the south coast club.
The 21-year-old Dane is an attacking full-back in every sense, and he possesses blistering pace.
He won’t come cheap, however, with his value surely approaching eight figures.
Maehle has the ability to be an instant upgrade on Cedric Soares, and he could go on to become a real hit at Southampton.
