Southampton are looking for a new manager again, having tonight confirmed that Mauricio Pellegrino has been relieved of his duties.

The Argentinian impressed in charge of Spanish side Alaves last season, and was snapped up as the replacement for Claude Puel at Southampton last summer.

However, the former Liverpool defender failed to impress, winning just eight of his 34 games in charge, and he now leaves with a 23.5% win rate having been sacked in the aftermath of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Southampton.

The Saints have won just one of the last 17 Premier League games, and the search is on for Pellegrino’s replacement, with Southampton hovering precariously above the relegation zone.

Bookmakers are already pricing up odds for Pellegrino’s replacement, with Sky Bet offering odds this evening, which show Marco Silva as the early 11/4 favourite.

The Portuguese boss, 40, has been out of work since being surprisingly sacked by Watford in January, and he could be tempted back into management if Southampton come calling.
