Tottenham chose to hold onto Moussa Sissoko this summer.

Tottenham’s summer transfer window was an odd one. They ended up not signing anybody, while also holding onto most of their fringe players.
Moussa Sissoko fell into that category, after two underwhelming seasons at Spurs following his switch from Newcastle.
Now keeping hold of him looks inspired.
There were opportunities to send him packing, notably from Inter Milan.
Football London reported in early August that Inter were plotting a potential move for Sissoko ahead of the transfer deadline.
If Tottenham really wanted to, upon hearing this, they could have reached out to the Italians and made clear that Sissoko was available for a cheap price.
It would have meant taking a loss on the Frenchman, but it would have saved on his wages, and it would have been a badly needed PR boost for the club as it would have actually got fans onside.

Now if Tottenham sold Sissoko the mood would be different, with the midfielder turning into one of the club’s best players, a quite dramatic turnaround.
Selling him to Inter could have really been costly. Sissoko shone against the Italians in midweek, providing the game-changing moment which led to the 1-0 win.
It was a victory which might just have saved the club’s season in the Champions League, giving them a qualification chance with one game remaining.
