During his peak years, Tiger Woods once shared what his daily routine looked like—and it was staggering.

When Woods began dominating the sport, everyone noticed how different he was from the rest of the field.

His approach to physical preparation changed how players thought about training.

Even so, no one could match his level of commitment—Woods reportedly ran eight miles every day as part of his training.

Tiger Woods spoke about his intense training habits before the 2018 Genesis Open, sharing some details during a press conference.

He mentioned that Justin Thomas had recently asked him about it during a flight, curious about how Tiger stayed fit early in his career.

Woods explained, via Golf Channel: “JT was asking me about this on a flight, ‘So what did you used to do when you were about my age?’

“Well, I used to get up in the morning, run four miles, then I’d go to the gym, do my lift, then I’d hit balls for about two to three hours.

“I’d go play, come back, work on my short game, run another four more miles and then if I wanted to play basketball or tennis then I would go play basketball or tennis.

“That was a daily routine. I’m not doing any of that now.”

Tiger’s dedication set him apart from everyone else in his era. It’s one of the main reasons he ended up becoming arguably the greatest golfer ever.

Could Tiger Woods’ injuries have been linked to his training?

Injuries in sports are often chalked up to bad luck, but there are plenty of other reasons that come into play.

One common cause is simply the toll of pushing physical limits too far. Looking back at how hard he trained, it’s not surprising that he ran into so many physical setbacks later on.

Some would argue that without those intense routines, Woods might not have reached such heights. Others might say it shortened his time at the top.
