Spanish football expert has suggested that Arsenal may be disappointed in their hopes of landing Martin Odegaard this summer on Sky Sports News.
The Telegraph say that Arsenal are looking to land the playmaker, as they aim to bolster their squad in the summer.
Mikel Arteta’s side had Odegaard on loan for six months at the back end of last season and he quickly became an important player for Arsenal.
The Gunners now looking to land him on a permanent deal.
But Montero says that staff at Madrid rate Odegaard very highly, and he has played down the chances of any deal happening.
“The president has a lot of trust and confidence in the player. They count on him,” Sky’s Spanish football expert said, when asked about Arsenal’s chances of landing Odegaard.
“If I had to bet, I would say Odegaard could stay at Madrid.
“But now let’s think what Carlo Ancelotti believed, what the president believed and if there is an economical opportunity maybe they could accept a year’s loan.
“But inside the club they believe he is the future. He has reached a good age and a good moment in football, so I believe he is going to stay with Real Madrid.”

All over for Arsenal?
Arsenal’s main hope may come from the fact that Carlo Ancelotti, who has just stepped in as Madrid manager, has previously suggested that he isn’t the biggest fan of the Norwegian.
However, that opinion may have changed after seeing what Odegaard did in an Arsenal shirt last season.
If Arsenal could land the 22-year-old it would surely be a boost to their chances next term.
The Gunners improved after he injected some creativity into their play in the final third, and there is a feeling that with six months of Premier League football under his belt, he could be ready to really step up next term.
