Thiago Alcantara changed the entire game for Liverpool last weekend.
Liverpool beat Norwich City 3-1 at Anfield but until Thiago was introduced, the Reds were losing 1-0 at Anfield.
However, within two minutes of his introduction Jurgen Klopp’s outfit were back on level terms through Sadio Mane, before Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz struck later in the second half to complete the comeback.
That victory was testament to the 30-year-old’s influence on the Anfield side.
And speaking to media ahead of tonight’s visit of Leeds United, the German manager has labelled the player’s skillset as ‘insane’ and described him as ‘very, very good’.
He said: “He is a very, very good player, we were never in doubt about that, his skillset is insane but it is all about staying fit and that’s what we are working on together.”
Will Thiago start against Leeds?
In a word, definitely.
Obviously he was benched for the visit of Norwich, but the Spain international is fully fit again after a brief spell on the sidelines and quite honestly, it’d be a major surprise if he isn’t included in the starting lineup.
Liverpool have the chance to move three points behind reigning Premier League champions Manchester City with a victory on Merseyside tonight.
It doesn’t seem like an enormous encounter, but the consequences of defeat could be devastating.
Three points is of paramount of importance and Thiago, based on his cameo against the Canaries, cannot be omitted again.
