Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to question the whereabouts of Santiago Munoz, who was signed by Steve Bruce before he was sacked.

What’s the story?

Well, Newcastle made headlines when they moved to sign Munoz from Santos Laguna on an 18-month loan deal in August.

As you may know, the 19-year-old shares his name with the star of the film ‘Goal’ in which a young Mexican striker hits the big time at Newcastle.

The Toon Army will be hoping Munoz follows in his namesake’s footsteps.

However, that doesn’t look like happening any time soon as the Mexican hasn’t actually featured for the Magpies yet at any age level.

There hasn’t been any talk of an injury for Munoz so, as we approach December, it’s strange to see he’s yet to play.

When will Santiago Munoz feature for Newcastle?

By the sounds of it, Munoz will start to play once he has got himself up to speed and on the same level as his teammates in the U23 side.

The Shields Gazette explained that as the reason for his absence in October, although with November about to end, it’s taking a bit longer than expected.

Newcastle fans need some kind of update as clearly they are starting to ask questions about the signing – one even called it a PR stunt by Mike Ashley.

It certainly gained plenty of media attention given the popularity of the film Goal, but surely that can’t be the only reason for the teenager’s arrival?

Only time will tell.

For now, let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about Munoz…
