Aston Villa fans are reacting on Twitter to an announcement regarding Philippe Coutinho.

Earlier in the January transfer window, Aston Villa secured a short-term loan agreement to sign the Barcelona playmaker.

In terms of profile, Steven Gerrard simply won’t be signing anybody bigger for the Bodymoor Heath outfit this winter.

Without even kicking a ball for the Villans, Coutinho has been handed a recall for Brazil’s upcoming fixtures against Ecuador and Paraguay in World Cup qualifying.

The first fixture comes on January 27, followed by the other one on February 2.

And suffice to say that a handful of Aston Villa supporters on Twitter are concerned about a potential injury.

Gamechanger

Pessimism aside, this could be an absolute gamechanger of a signing for Aston Villa.

Remember, the former Liverpool maestro is still only 29 and in the prime of his football career.

Okay so things failed to work out at Camp Nou, but this is a player with proven Premier League ability, hence why the Spaniards splashed £142 million on signing him four years ago.

Even without the Brazilian, Gerrard’s outfit have looked a completely different proposition since the forrmer Rangers manager came aboard back in November.

Yes, they lost 2-1 at Brentford in their last Premier League outing but, prior to that, only Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City had beaten Villa – and two of those defeats were by a solitary goal.

Under Gerrard, the Midlands outfit are looking like a serious team and with Coutinho thrown into the mix, well there’s no telling what their second half of the campaign could look like.
