Liverpool have an injury concern in the form of Thiago Alcantara this evening.
Jurgen Klopp’s troops are gearing up to finish the job against Benfica and move into the semi-final of the Champions League.
The Reds have a 3-1 advantage from the first leg, which is just as well because Liverpool might be without one of their best player this evening.
According to The Echo, Thiago wasn’t photographed in Tuesday’s training session at Kirkby and is therefore ‘unlikely to feature’ against the Portuguese outfit.
Bad news
If true, it’s a major blow for Liverpool.
Thiago’s influence was epitomised against Manchester City on Sunday when, despite a sluggish start, he executed a stunning crossfield ball which led to Klopp’s side equalising shortly after Kevin de Bruyne’s opener.
The Spain international is certainly somebody who makes Liverpool’s tick and if he’s absent then it’s definitely a problem for the Merseysiders.
In all probability, they’ll finish the job and move into the last four of the competition regardless, but with Fabinho having a shocker against City, and Henderson turning 32 this summer, you could argue that Thiago is the club’s best midfielder and it’ll be interesting to see how the German’s troops cope without him.
