Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has ruled Serge Aurier out for at least another week, but Sergio Reguilon could return soon, as per his comments to the club’s official app.

Tottenham were without both their first choice full-backs in their recent Premier League clash with Manchester City and it seems that they will have to cope without the pair later this evening.

Spurs are due to take on Wolfsberger AC in the Europa League later today, when Mourinho will have to consider his options to start on the right and left side of his defence.

But the Portuguese boss is at least hopeful that the situation should improve soon, as Reguilon is now on the verge of a comeback.

“Sergio has some chances for Sunday, I would say many chances for the second leg,” Mourinho said.

“I don’t believe that Serge Aurier can do anyone of these two.”

With Reguilon sidelined tonight, it seems likely that Ben Davies will continue at left-back – although youngster Dennis Cirkin has also been included in the squad.

Japhet Tanganga may be the biggest beneficiary from £23 million man (BBC Sport) Aurier’s absence.

Tanganga impressed in Tottenham’s defeat to City, as he coped with the challenge thrown at him well.

And it could be that he continues to play at right-back ahead of Matt Doherty, after Mourinho publicly praised him following the clash at the Etihad Stadium.
