Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli withdrew from the England squad with a minor injury.

Alli left the squad as a precaution, with the Evening Standard reporting he suffered a ‘minor muscle strain’.

There are no specifics offered over whether he will feature this coming weekend against Liverpool – although Reds fans are convinced he will be in the starting line up.

Alli has broken his silence on the situation, and wished his England teammates luck for tonight’s international fixture against Switzerland.

Alli sent a message on Instagram which read: “Frustrated to have picked up an injury on Saturday and to be leaving the @england camp early. Good luck to the rest of the @england squad for the game tomorrow! #threelions.”

The Tottenham midfielder started England’s match against Spain on Saturday evening but failed to make an impact.

Spurs have a big game in the Premier League this weekend and are would understandably be keen that no chances are taken with Alli’s fitness for an international friendly match.

Alli has made 31 appearances for England, scoring three times.
