Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Marcelo Bielsa has delivered an update on Joe Gelhardt, and sadly, it’s not great news.

Indeed, Bielsa says that the teenage sensation has injured himself in training and he will be out of action with an ankle problem for the next three weeks.

Usually, a 19-year-old picking up an injury isn’t too big of a deal, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a teenager who’s made as big an impact as Gelhardt has in recent weeks.

What’s Bielsa said about Gelhardt?

The Argentine was the bearer of bad news about the striker.

“As it has been habitually this season, the players are injuring themselves in the same position. To the injury of Bamford and Rodrigo, we add the injury to Tyler Roberts and Gelhardt, who injured his ankle in training yesterday. He’s going to be absent for three weeks. Tyler Roberts similar amount of time,” Bielsa said.

Softened blow

Gelhardt being injured certainly isn’t ideal for Leeds, but things are made that much easier by the fact that Patrick Bamford is now back fit.

The Whites have had so many problems with injuries this season, especially in the number nine position.

Bamford has been out for the majority of the season, but, somewhat luckily, the 28-year-old Is set to return just as Gelhardt has gone down.
