Gjanni Alioski has promised to come back stronger after the Leeds United wide-man saw his season ended early due to injury.
Gjanni Alioski has taken to Twitter to thank the Leeds fans for their messages of support, and insist that he plans to come back stronger after the club confirmed on their official website that the Macedonian will miss the rest of the season due to injury.
Alioski was replaced during the early stages of Monday’s 2-0 defeat away at Brentford. Ice packs were immediately placed around his knee, and with Barry Douglas already out until the summer, there would have been plenty of nervous Leeds supporters hoping that the treatment was more of a precaution.
Unfortunately, Leeds have since confirmed that Alioski will miss the rest of the campaign, meaning that he will play no further part in trying to get Marcelo Bielsa’s side across the line in the promotion race. And the wide-man has now taken to social media to post a message in response to the support he has received…
The news is a real blow for Leeds. After a tough couple of months before the turn of the year, Alioski looked transformed at left-back and had been keeping Douglas out of the starting lineup before the former Wolves man picked up his injury.
His form may have dipped in the last couple of weeks, but Bielsa now faces a tricky decision regarding who will play at left-back for the final two games of the campaign, as well as the play-offs if the Whites do not manage to catch Sheffield United or Norwich City.
Stuart Dallas arguably did fairly well against Brentford considering that Leeds struggled after going behind on the stroke of half-time. He will surely come into the starting XI for Sunday’s game against Aston Villa.
