Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:22pm, January 15, 2023) that Rodrigo Bentancur will be back against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City this week after missing the North London derby against Arsenal at the weekend.
Conte has said that he hopes to have midfielder Bentancur in action against defending Premier League champions Manchester City.
Tottenham suffered a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the North London derby on Sunday.
Uruguay international midfielder Bentancur did not play due to injury.
Spurs will return to action on Thursday evening when they take on City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League.
Conte has said that Bentancur will be back for that match.
The 25-year-old £73,000-a-week (SalarySport) suffered an injury while playing fo Uruguay at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Antonio Conte on Rodrigo Bentancur for Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City
Conte said: “I hope for the next game to recover Rodrigo Bentancur.”

Encouraging
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur are a better team with Rodrigo Bentancur in it, and if he is back in the team for Thursday, then it will enhance the North London club’s chances of winning the Premier League game against Manchester City.
City are not in particularly great form and lost the Manchester derby to Manchester United this past weekend.
So, if Spurs step up their game and put in a better performance than they did against Arsenal, then they could beat the defending champions.
Or at least draw.
