Edu will have a warchest of £250 million to spend on players at Arsenal this summer.
Well, that’s according to 90 Min who report that Stan Kroenke has given Arsenal’s hierarchy the greenlight to splash the cash on as many as five new signings.
The report adds that Edu, the Gunners’ technical director, will lead the recruitment drive.
The North Londoners have finished eighth in each of the past two Premier League seasons, underlining the need for reinforcements.
Here’s how some Arsenal fans reacted to Kroenke’s reported decision:
Believable?
Well it’s certainly exciting, but is it true? Potentially not.
The American billionaire has never been one to show a great deal of interest when it comes to investing in Arsenal.
So for Kroenke to suddenly agree to an injection of £250 million is a tad suspect to say the least.
That being said, Spotify owner Daniel Ek has publicly stated his intention to buy out KSE and take over at the Emirates Stadium.
And with the vast majority of Arsenal fans in favour of seeing the Swede – a lifelong Gunners fan – on the throne, Kroenke will know that he has to appease the fanbase and spending money is a quick way toward doing that.
But £250 million? Well that’s a bit of a stretch.
