The Liverpool striker is eager to start playing regularly again.
Danny Ings has been heavily linked with a loan departure from Liverpool during this month’s transfer window but it now seems that the striker will remain at Anfield.
Ings will hope to feature when Liverpool host West Bromwich Albion tomorrow in the fourth round of the FA Cup and if he is involved from the outset then it will be his first start in 27 months.
The striker’s injury problems have been well documented, but, having featured as a substitute on several occasions this season, he is ready to step up his involvement and demonstrate that he can have an important part to play for Liverpool in the remainder of the campaign.
Ings’ Liverpool career has barely got going owing to his injuries but the game against West Brom represents an excellent opportunity for him to boost his confidence and also showcase his credentials.
The 25-year-old has the physical presence and finishing ability to be an impressive performer for Liverpool, but he now has to show that his injuries haven’t had a lasting effect and that he can still make a significant impact at the highest level.
If he catches the eye against West Brom then Ings should get further chances in the Premier League and could well prove to be a valuable squad option for Liverpool.
