Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are upset with head coach Mikel Arteta over a second-straight snub of Gabriel Martinelli.
Arsenal slumped to another demoralising defeat on Saturday as Arteta’s side lost 2-1 away to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Even worse, the Gunners, who were thumped 3-0 by Manchester City in midweek, took a second-half lead through Nicolas Pepe.
In both games, the North Londoners have been in a position where they’ve needed a goal and yet Arteta has left the 18-year-old wonderkid on the bench on both occasions.
Martinelli has been a real star in an otherwise dreadful season for Arsenal, who sit 10th in the Premier League table – two points behind Crystal Palace, for example.
The Brazilian, who joined the Emirates Stadium club last summer, scored a sensational solo goal in a 2-2 draw against Chelsea earlier this year and was one of the team’s in-form players when the season was suspended back in March.
As a result, Arsenal fans on Twitter don’t understand why their Spanish coach is treating him so coldly.
