Jason Cundy has told talkSPORT he feels ‘sorry’ for Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son that they are still at Tottenham Hotspur as both forwards can deliver world-class performances.
The former Spurs defender also expects the conversation will grow around Kane still being one of the world’s best strikers. Kane has endured an underwhelming season overall so far this term after seeing his potential transfer to Manchester City fall through last summer.
But Kane gave signs his lethal ability in front of goal remains with a brace at the Etihad last weekend. The England striker twice restored Spurs’ lead over Pep Guardiola’s side to hand Antonio Conte a shock 3-2 win. Son also produced two assists after creating their first two.

Kane’s double at Manchester City moved the 28-year-old onto seven goals over 22 Premier League outings so far this season. He has also hit home 10 over 12 games during the north Londoners’ cup efforts. But his top-flight haul so far marks his worst hit-rate since 2013/14.
The 67-cap international has only averaged a goal in every three league appearances so far this term. He last recorded a figure as low during his first campaign with regular top-flight games. Instead, offering at worst a goal in every 1.6 matches over the in-between seven.
Cundy ‘sorry’ Kane and Son are still at Tottenham
Cundy feels Kane and Son have shown over their years at Tottenham what they can offer away from north London. Manchester City sought to sign Kane last summer with Guardiola confirming, via The Sun, they saw Spurs rebuff four approaches before accepting defeat.
Additionally, The Telegraph report the Citizens bid £75m plus £25m in add-ons, but Daniel Levy wanted at least £120m upfront. The move collapsing may have distracted Kane during the early stages of the season. But Cundy is confident he remains among the world’s best.

He also hints his former side are lucky to have Kane and his Tottenham strike partner, Son, at the club. The latter’s two assists at the Etihad were his sixth and seventh of the season.
“The conversation will come back round, inevitably, about Kane being one of the best strikers in the world,” Cundy said. “I think he’s the best – he is an absolute delight to watch. Even as a Chelsea fan I have to say he is a brilliant, brilliant footballer.
“How is he still at Spurs? It’s a travesty, him and Son, I feel sorry for the pair of them. Son, I don’t think he’s quite world-class. He can put in a world-class performance, but he’s not in the same bracket Kane is. Kane is right up there.”
