Tony Cascarino has praised Leeds United winger Ian Poveda in The Times for not going down to the ground inside the Chelsea penalty box.
Leeds suffered a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge in London in the Premier League this past Saturday.
However, the result could have been different had Poveda been awarded a penalty in the second half.
During the second half when Leeds were 2-1 down, the 20-year-old was caught by Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell inside the area.
Instead of going down, the England Under-20 international winger stayed on his feet and eventually took the shot, which did not result in a goal.
Former Chelsea striker Cascarino has praised Poveda for staying on his feet and not going down.
Cascarino wrote in The Times: “It was incredibly refreshing to see Ian Poveda stay on his feet when he was clipped by Ben Chilwell on his way into the Chelsea penalty area.
“There are those who argued that the Leeds United winger cost his side a point by not going down and therefore failing to win a penalty, highlighting a worrying trend in our game.”

Praise for Ian Poveda
It was really great of Poveda to stay on his feet and try to score a goal ‘properly’, and the Leeds youngster should be praised for it.
The 20-year-old not taking the easy option shows his mentality and attitude towards the game.
Mateusz Klich v Kalvin Phillips
Meanwhile, Leeds midfielder Mateusz Klich has sent a message to his teammate and fellow midfielder Kalvin Phillips on Twitter following the draw for the 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign.
England will face Poland, Hungary, Albania, Andorra and San Marino in Group I.
Klich will line up for Poland, while Phillips will play for the Three Lions.
