'Incredible, very cool': £30m star flattered amid reported Liverpool interest

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez says being linked with clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City is an ‘incredible thing’ as speculation rages about his future, speaking to Bolavip.

It is hard to believe now that there were so many eyebrows raised when Wolves brought this Mexican international to the Premier League two years ago for a cool £30 million.

But, at the time, Jimenez certainly had his fair share of doubters.

He had flopped spectacularly at Atletico Madrid and couldn’t buy a start for Benfica – so few would have expected that he would take the English game by storm so spectacularly in Old Gold.

These days, Jimenez is arguably the star man of Europe’s most exciting, up-and-coming team.

He has 22 goals in all competitions this season, plus a further 10 assists, establishing himself as one of the most complete number nines on the planet.

But while cash-rich Wolves have no need to sell their prized asset over the summer, Jimenez has spent the last few months hinting at a departure with some of Europe’s bonafide giants expressing an interest.

And his latest comments might have the Molineux faithful worrying about what the future holds.

“It is something very cool,” Jimenez says of the speculation.

“Different teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester City, Manchester United Liverpool – they are teams that are important in football history.

“It is an incredible thing to be on the radar and on the lips of those teams. It is something good for me to continue growing, making an effort and taking it as an incentive so that, if possible, I can achieve (such a move).

“My dream team? Whatever one that signs me would be incredible.”

Liverpool are expected to keep their chequebook in their pocket this summer but the same cannot be said for Juventus, who have been the club most heavily linked with Jimenez recently.
