Scott Minto has told talkSPORT that Borussia Dortmund have one of the top European talents in Jude Bellingham, and expects a transfer war for the rumoured Liverpool target.

The former Chelsea ace believes Bellingham is ‘smashing it’ in Germany as he continually stands out at the Westfalenstadion. Marco Rose has unleashed the 18-year-old in all 11 of BVB’s matches so far this season, across all competitions.

Bellingham has repeatedly stepped up and dictated the pace of Dortmund’s fixtures, while scoring twice and assisting five goals. He is also breaking Champions League records, with Opta noting the teenager is the youngest player to reach 10 starts.

Bellingham will hope his efforts in black-and-yellow now carry over with England, having only opened two of his eight appearances. The teenager’s efforts have already piqued the attention of some top Premier League clubs, including Jurgen Klopp’s Anfield natives.

The Daily Star claim Liverpool are on pole to sign Bellingham as Manchester United are targeting Leeds’s Kalvin Phillips instead. Although Christian Falk has told BILD that Klopp is reluctant to sign players from Dortmund, even though he wants Bellingham.

Minto expects transfer war for Dortmund star and Liverpool target Bellingham

Minto would be shocked if more top Premier League clubs are not also eying transfers for Bellingham. He also expects a war will soon erupt to bring the midfielder back to England.

“He’s bossing it in the centre of midfield in the Bundesliga,” Minto said. “I went abroad when I was 25, I could not have gone out at 17, absolutely no chance. He is one of the most incredible talents in European football.

“Everyone knew about him [at 16 at Birmingham], he’s going abroad and smashing it at the moment. At some point he will come to the Premier League. He’s going to get one of the top teams coming in for him, and he’ll probably still only be 19, 20.”

How much would Bellingham cost Liverpool to sign?

Even if Klopp overcomes his reluctance to weaken Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool will face a mammoth transfer fee to sign Bellingham. Eurosport report the North Rhine-Westphalia outfit believe he is worth £100m, and his performances will not bring that value down.

Becoming a key part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad would further hurt any attempts Liverpool make for a lower fee. While recent appearances at right midfield under Rose only add more strings to his already impressive bow of skills.
