Tottenham Hotspur are seemingly in the market for a new goalkeeper.
Hugo Lloris isn’t getting any younger, and mistakes are starting to creep more and more into his game.
Lloris dropped two clangers against Newcastle and Arsenal in recent Spurs fixtures, and it looks like his days as Spurs’ number one are numbered.
The likes of Jan Oblak and Wojciech Szczesny have been linked in recent weeks, and now, 90Min are reporting that Spurs are keen on David Raya.
Raya has been starring for many years in west London with Brentford, and he’s the epitome of what a modern goalkeeper should be.
Indeed, Raya has largely made his name for his ability on the ball and his distribution, and his ability to play out from the back even caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp last season.
Klopp was blown away by Raya after a 3-3 draw with the Bees last term, quipping that the Spaniard has the technical ability to be a number 10.

Klopp hailed Raya when speaking to the BBC last year.
“The goalkeeper could have the shirt with number 10. He played a few incredible balls but it was the right thing to do against us today.”
Step into the modern day
So many things have changed within the Premier League and at Tottenham over the past 10 years, but their goalkeeper hasn’t changed for over a decade now.
While Hugo Lloris has been a brilliant servant, he’s not exactly the most forward-thinking goalkeeper.
As a player who came through in the 2000s, Lloris’ game is much more about keeping the ball out of the net than being a part of the build-up, which is what being a modern day number one is all about.
It’s time for Spurs to step into the modern day with a technically gifted goalkeeper, and Raya may be the perfect man to bring them into the sweeper keeper era.
