Slaven Bilic has claimed that David Moyes has done an ‘incredible’ job with West Ham United, as he told Premier League Productions (05/03/22 at 8:20 pm).

The former Hammers boss also praised Moyes for not allowing the club’s form to drop in the Premier League, whilst also competing in the Europa League this season.

West Ham suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening to dent their Champions League chances.

But they have to quickly turn their attention to Thursday night and a mouthwatering tie against Sevilla in the Europa League.

Given that West Ham aren’t used to playing in Europe, Bilic praised the club for coping with it and still delivering the goods on the domestic circuit.

“These last two seasons are incredible,” said Bilic. “It shows what a good job David Moyes has done and is doing.

“Last season, they got into Europe. It’s not easy for clubs like West Ham playing in Europe. It’s not only you have extra games, but you have to know how to play these games.

“And they didn’t drop. You have before, some clubs in England, that wanted both and then they made a big slip. Everton, with Koeman.

“They are there. Now they are playing against Sevilla and they are still in the great place to be in the Premier League, which is a great job.”

This will be a serious test of West Ham’s quality, mindset and squad depth because Sevilla are one of the top teams in Europe.

Even though Real Madrid hold an eight-point lead at the top of La Liga, it’s Julen Lopetegui’s side who are on their tails.

Real Madrid may well add another La Liga title to their cabinet, but with Sevilla’s nine-point gap to third-placed Real Betis, they should secure Champions League football via their league position anyway.

And if West Ham can see them off over their two-legged affair, then it would make them serious favourites to win the competition.
