Pep Guardiola has opened up about Arsenal hitman Gabriel Jesus and his decision to sell the attacker.

Jesus left Manchester City to join Arsenal in a £45 million deal this past summer.

He is by no means the Gunners’ record signing but, by the same token, he certainly wasn’t cheap either.

That being said, the North Londoners will still feel that they secured something of a bargain for the Brazil international because he’s been their best player this season, albeit after only six Premier League outings.

There is the expectation that the 25-year-old will only get better too, the more he continues to adapt to his Arsenal teammates around him.

However, City certainly aren’t missing the South American because his replacement, Erling Haaland, has a staggering 12 goals in seven Premier League and Champions League outings this season.

Here’s what Guardiola said about the new Arsenal player, admitting to a press conference via Football Daily on Twitter that he still loves him: “We had an incredible striker with Gabriel I was delighted with Gabriel, I loved this guy. We had an incredible striker in Gabriel Jesus. But we had the chance to bring [Erling] here so why not?”

Indeed, this is a transfer that’s working out for everyone.

Arsenal will be over the moon with how influential Jesus has proven thus far under Mikel Arteta, while Pep himself will be ecstatic about Haaland’s goal return this early.

There’s no chance of Jesus – who has three Premier League goals this season – out-scoring Haaland, but in terms of all-round effectiveness he’s had a similar impact as the Norway international and from the Gunners’ perspective, long may it last.
