Emi Martinez labelled Tyrone Mings as ‘incredible’ on Instagram after he helped Aston Villa record a quite stunning 3-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling labelled him ‘strong’ as Villa moved sixth in the Premier League table, and if they can win their game in hand, then they will move to the top of the table.

Ironically enough, their game in hand is against Sterling’s side and whilst Pep Guardiola’s men would be favourites, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Villa were to win that game given how they are playing this term.

Nonetheless, this is the message Mings sent from his Instagram account after Villa’s win last night, with the likes of Adebayo Akinfenwa, Yannick Bolasie and Benik Afobe also responding.

Akinfenwa simply commented by saying: “BestModeee’, whilst Afobe wrote: “Great performance geez.”

That’s three games on the road for Villa, three wins and three clean sheets.

Last season, Dean Smith’s men didn’t keep a single clean sheet on the road and they only picked up two wins, so in that regard, it has been some turnaround from the Midlands giants.

Mings is playing a big part in that because he now has a settled partner in Ezri Konsa, who has perhaps been Villa’s best defensive player since football returned to action from lockdown.

With the international break kicking in, Mings will now link up with England, but it has to be questioned that if Villa’s £20 million [BBC Sport] is getting called up then his centre-back partner also deserves a call because he has outperformed him for a number of months now.

But from Villa’s perspective, that’s another Villa player rested for a number of weeks.
